Power(s): Her powers can only be used if she has severed her torso from her lower body. Her powers are: Flight (since her batwings appear) and distorting the perception of her location. The first power is self-explanatory, but the second needs some clarification. Manananggals can trick their prey/victims into thinking they are closer or farther than they really are by distorting the sounds of their wings. It is believed that the louder the flapping of their wings, the farther they are and vice versa. Maritess can turn this power on and off and uses this mostly to confuse or disorient as opposed to attacking.

History/Description: Maritess' parents are both OFW's, her father is an engineer in Saudi while her mother is a caregiver in Canada. She lived with her maternal grandmother in Capiz and was like all the other children. Except for the fact that her grandmother was actually an aging Manananggal who managed to convince Maritess to accept the "gift" (which was really a curse). Of course the problem here was that now that her grandmother had died (passing on the curse meant being able to leave 'naturally leave' the mortal realm) her parents had to find somewhere for her to live while they continued to work under contract. Through her grandmother's old "contacts", Maritess is enrolled in Exodus Academy.

Personality: When she is in her human form, Maritess is neat and tidy and a bit of a tight-ass. A stickler for the rules with a very low tolerance to those who are unable to think for themselves, Maritess tends to maintain a level of detachment with others. She doesn't go out of her way to avoid others though so she's not anti-social. It's simply not in Maritess' nature to become dependent on others.

When she is in her severed state, it is almost as if she 'detaches' herself from her inhibitions and tight-ass ways. She becomes more vocal of her thoughts and opinions and doesn't really care about the consequences of her words or actions. She's more adventurous and more willing to take risks and chances. Of course the only time she can sever her body parts is at night, at least it's when the "party starts" so to speak. She still has little patience for those who don't think for themselves and won't hesitate to make snide or sarcastic remarks face-to-face.

Me: Okay so I decided to do something for myself, something original (to an extent) and not a fanfic. Boo Addy boo! No one cares about your RP characters and nonsense, go back to writing fanfics XP leave me alone D8 I like manananggals and I find them fascinatingly scary even if they were only created to explain miscarriages in the past, the notion of a woman severing her torso from the rest of her is still macabre and AWESOME 8D Also, there are no Superfriends here :/ Eniwei, this is Maritess Santiago, my RP character for the DA RPing club I have yet to receive approval/confirmation so I may end up moving this to the scraps section if denied (not that it matters to anyone). Wooo my coloring sucks ;A; I still have no idea how to color clothes or skin or hair or just color in general. Or draw for that matter ;^; but I'm trying >_>
